Thank you for posting this. Stirs my soul. A just leader, a righteous man. I'm sure he has reached the Promised Land.

Indeed, truly a great man! He was also misunderstood ... by followers and opponents alike.
That doesn't change his courage or his greatness

Said he, "Certainly, if the problem is to be solved then in the final sense, hearts must be changed. Religion and education must play a great role in changing the heart. But we must go on to say that while it may be true that morality cannot be legislated, behavior can be regulated" ... regardless of his pure intent, great abuses of power have resulted from those blindly running with the "behavior can be regulated" ball.

It was his context that made it pure ... but somehow that got lost in translation, methinks, and we have become victims of governmental abuses rationalized by "the end justifies the means" mentality.

Power always thinks ... that it is doing God's service when it is violating all his laws - Sam Adams' cousin John.

Dang! I ain't no Yankee what puts sugar in his cornbread ... why is my bacon gravy sweet?

Bacon grease, flour, salt, pepper, black coffee and a touch of milk.

No, it ain't the grease ... could it be the milk? I can't imagine that being the case but, maybe that's why folks call it sweet ...

Hi SJA! It is so good to be commenting on your blog again! I enjoyed the 1968 Speech. Believe it or not, I was 14, so I was old enough to remember it happening, and I probably watched it if it was on TV, but my mom died August 26, 1968, and it seems like everything else got overshadowed by her death because I really don't remember anything special happening that year other than momma's passing. Thank you for reminding me. God Bless! I'm so glad your back!

What a great web log. I spend hours on the net reading blogs, about tons of various subjects. I have to first of all give praise to whoever created your theme and second of all to you for writing what i can only describe as an fabulous article. I honestly believe there is a skill to writing articles that only very few posses and honestly you got it. The combining of demonstrative and upper-class content is by all odds super rare with the astronomic amount of blogs on the cyberspace.
